The fourth annual South Lake Tahoe Food and Wine Festival kicked off this weekend, but there was something different in the air about this festival, and it wasn’t the food – it was Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine.
Irvine, the star of Food Network shows “Dinner Impossible” and “Restaurant Impossible”, hosted the Ultimate Tailgate: Blues, Brews & BBQ at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe.
Though Irvine’s appearance at the event was brief, his influence on other chefs in the room was clear – many duplicated some of the Irvine’s famous dishes like his signature honey BBQ ribs and shrimp corn dogs.
“It’s not every day that you get to eat food that was made by a celebrity chef, but it was amazing and definitely everything you’d expect,” said Scott Millhouse, who traveled from Monterey, Calif. to attend the festivities.
John Packer, director of public relations for Harvey’s, said this event has had a strong turnout the past few years and he expects more to come in the future.
“We’re already looking in to how we can make this event better next time around, and we’ll probably move it up a month because the weather is unpredictable here, but this event is a huge hit for us,” Packer said.
