“Next Best Bartender”, a new reality television show that aims to find the best bartender in the nation, will feature contestants from Reno, Las Vegas and Sacramento, Calif. The show’s producers held its final tryouts at the West Second Street Bar in Reno, Nev. on Saturday.
“Next Best Bartender”‘ creator and executive director Stevie Kellum said she chose Reno because he wanted to challenge the negative stereotypes associated with the city.
“This is our community and we get tired of hearing all about [comedy television series] “Reno 911!” so we tried to do something a little sexy and creative for Reno, and here we are now,” Kellum said.
When she is not on the road directing the “Next Best Bartender”, Kellum resides in Reno with her husband. She said creating and executing a bartending reality show is a dream come true.
“I’ve been extremely lucky to get this opportunity,” Kellum said. “I’m truly blessed.”
Kellum said each episode will feature elimination rounds after bartending challenges presented by judges; the “Next Best Bartender” winner will receive $25,000.
The show will air on several networks, but Reno residents will be able to see it on NBC Comcast and the CW channels. “Next Best Bartender” is set to premiere in early January 2014.
