The Nevada Media Alliance is more than a project in journalism partnership, it is also an experiment.

Created and launched at the Donald W. Reynolds School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno, the Nevada Media Alliance was developed to form journalistic relationships with regional news media. Its purpose is to give RSJ students authentic journalistic experience, exposure and learning opportunities befitting their investment in a quality education; to help local professional journalism thrive, by designing, implementing and demonstrating a successful collaborative model; to serve the information needs of the broader community; and to provide opportunities for applied research and creative production by faculty.

The Alliance reports on all things Northern Nevada with:

—Timely posts on topics of interest to the communty
—Regular depth features on instrumental issues, individuals and developments
—Multimedia presentations for radio, television, Web
—Social media activities
—Public engagement activities

Like our first editor in chief Michael V. Marcotte says, “it takes a village to reinvent journalism”. Within this statement lies the crux of the Nevada Media Alliance: a journalistic endeavor contingent on its media and academic partners.
